I bought and used SONY Z505 for my boss when I was in China, at that time, I thought IBM was too ugly but later I changed my mind and decided to buy IBM T23 when I came to USA.
One of my principle of buying high-value product is that I will only buy the brand-new one, for this purpose I can wait for several months (anyway, I can use the department's DELL 24 hours per day). For example, when I decided to buy Walkman, I wait for half year and get SONY EX20, it is the most beautiful and wonderful walkman(now in China, it costs >1500RMB, and in USA, it costs $120).
But when I read the review article in www.sundigi.com, I changed my mind and decided to buy GR250. It only costs $<1200, (and I think GR250's quality/price is the No. 1, better than GR270 and 290, and much higher than IBM) but if I buy the T23 with the same capability, it will costs around $3000.
I mean I would rather buy GR250 at this time and buy some IBM T24 or T30 some times later when I have more money. (in fact, I win some outsider award of $4000 besides my common salary).
In USA, IBM is mainly for business man, they use it for work not for pleasure.
There are some drawbacks of buying SONY, that is, when you decide to buy digital camera, you will think that you's better buy SONY to make full use of your notebook.
I am sorry I can not input Chinese(although I can read it), and my selection is based on my principle (only buy brand-new one, not second-handed). I share the same viewpoint with one of my friends, when I buy a book and read through it, it will still like a new book, if someone read my book and make it untidy, we will send this book to him because even cheap as a book, in our eyes, new book is a virgin. So when I buy something worth above 1K, I will only consider new one, not to speak of something worth above 10K.
Certainly as an economics major, I think highly of E-business, especially the second-handed E-Business.

IBM的M300还不错啊,以前小虫在这里卖国。

The Compaq Armada M300 is two notebooks in one. Alone, it's a thin, lightweight system with amenities such as a network adapter and programmable hot-buttons. Clip on its underbelly docking station, and it becomes a desktop replacement system, complete with two drive bays and a full complement of expansion ports.

This ingenious design is sure to please jet-setters, especially considering that cramped airplane seats don't have room for the cable-connected expansion hubs employed by most other ultraportables. Instead of needing to create extra space around the notebook, the dock merely raises it a bit. Thus the Armada M300 still fits easily on a lap or tray table, even with its drives attached.

The hot-swappable dock, which has room for two devices, comes with a 3.5-inch floppy and a DVD-ROM drive but you can easily swap in a second battery or hard drive. And it provides more expandability than most external bays; it duplicates the Armada M300's existing expansion ports, while adding line-in and line-out jacks and a pair of PS/2 ports.

Even separated from the dock, the Armada M300 is still well-equipped to take on the road with a 600MHz Pentium III processor, 128MB RAM, a 12GB hard drive, a 56 Kbps modem, Ethernet adapter, USB port, and Type II PC Card slot. The cylindrical battery clips onto the Armada M300's rear, and can slant the notebook on an angle towards you, and at the same time reveal the rear expansion ports.

With the battery attached, the Armada M300 only weighs just 3.5 pounds (4.0 pounds travel weight with the AC adapter). Even more impressive, it is the most compact system in its class measuring just 1.0 by 10.4 by 9.5 inches. The docking slice is even thinner than the Armada M300 itself and only adds a mere 2.5 pounds with both the floppy and DVD drives installed.

The Armada M300's only weakness is that it did not perform quite as well on our tests as the other ultraportables. Overall, its performance was about on par with the Celeron-based IBM ThinkPad X20, which costs hundreds less. One possible culprit is the ATI Rage LT Pro graphics processor, a slowpoke relative to the newer ATI and S3 chips found in the other ultraportables. But most users will find the Armada M300 sufficient for everyday computing tasks. You can expect to receive two hours of battery life from the Armada M300, according to our tests.

The Armada M300's keyboard felt very comfortable beneath our fingers, although we would have preferred larger mouse buttons below the touchpad. Four handy quick-launch buttons reside above the keyboard; you can use them to launch applications such as your Web browser and e-mail program, or you can reprogram them for other applications.

We were pleasantly surprised by the loud, clear sound of the notebook's speakers. Although they sound a bit tinny, they're nonetheless fine for presentations and after-hours MP3s or DVDs. We did, however, see some noticeable pixelation in movie playback.

The Armada M300 is covered by a one-year warranty -- standard for ultraportables -- and includes a long list of Compaq utilities, but not a productivity suite. In a class where portability and design are more important than performance, the Compaq Armada M300 is a great choice for frequent fliers.
