With Dell and Apple recalling the natural question is will there be anyone else.
Rough estimates on numbers suggest we are short anywhere from a 1/4th to a third of batteries that probably should have been recalled that have been recalled.
The good news is that it looks like the majority are being called back, the bad news is that one battery could be catastrophic and 1/4th would still be about 2 Million units at risk. Best guess is that these are likely Sony Vaio boxes but without knowing for sure we are far from positive about this and other vendors could have this volume.
If we are correct and a fire does result in the loss of life the result could not only be disastrous for the PC vendor who didn’t recall it could do incredibly ugly things to laptop privileges on planes.
The Product Safety Commission is still actively investigating this problem and odds are they will eventually request these remaining hazardous batteries be recalled regardless. When that happens the implication that the vendor caught was covering up the problem could have a broad negative impact on their ability to sell products in the United States, any products.

要是我们上面的猜测没错，如果一块隐患电池因为厂商没有召回，万一引起火灾，甚至烧死了一个人的话，那罪过可就大了！也许以后坐飞机都要严禁携带笔记本电脑了！
产品安全委员会正在积极调查此事，值得高兴的是，他们最终会强制要求各厂商回收这批存在安全隐患的电池。一旦如此，那些试图瞒天过海的PC厂商再想在美国卖他们的东西，可就难上加难喽~~
