Symptom
There is a scratch-like marking on the LCD. This might be a stain transferred from the TrackPoint or from the key tops of the keyboard when the cover was pressed from the outside.

Solution
Wipe such a stain gently with a dry soft cloth. If the stain remains, moisten the cloth with LCD cleaner (see Additional information) and wipe the stain again. Be sure to dry the LCD before closing it.
Additional information
The TFT LCD screen is a delicate device that requires careful handling. To keep the LCD from being damaged keep these precautions in mind:
Do not place ANYTHING heavy on your ThinkPad.
Do not scratch, twist or hit the surface of the LCD screen.
Use a soft Lint FREE moistened non-alkaline detergent cloth to wipe the exterior of the Thinkpad. NOTE: A 50-50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol and water or water may be used to moisten your cloth.
Gently wipe the LCD with a DRY Lint FREE soft cloth.
Anti-static LCD cleaning cloths and Kim Wipes are also acceptable alternatives.
Danger
Isopropyl Alcohol is a flammable liquid. Do not use this cleaner near an exposed flame or when the system is on.
Warning
Never spray or pour any liquid directly on the LCD panel!
